One of the most popular family walk or cycle in Killarney National Park is the 1-2 hour, 10km (6 mile) loop around the enchanting Muckross Lake with stunning views and places to visit at every turn...and i mean every turn.  This looped cycle route takes in:

  1. Muckross Abbey
  2. Muckross House
  3. spot the native and rare Kerry Cow in the nearby fields
  4. Dundag Beach
  5. Boat House
  6. Brickeen Bridge
  7. spot some Red Deer (the only remaining native heard of redd der in Ireland)
  8. Dinis Cottage,
  9. The Meeting of the Waters
  10. maybe if you're lucky spot one of the reintroduced White Tailed Eagles soaring above,
  11. Old Weir Bridge. From here you join the main public road (Ring of Kerry) for a short distance by bike. If on foot you can cross the road, go up a few steps and join a lovely forest walking trail which follows the road below (this section is not really suitable for buggies but it can be done with a little effort and sweat...thrust me)
  12. Arrive at the world famous Torc Waterfall.

After a visit to Torc, you can cross the main road with care and re-enter the Killarney National Park and away from the traffic. This is one of the best cycle routes in Ireland.
