Knockomagh Wood Nature Reserve is located a few miles south of Skibbereen, Co. Cork next to the famous Lough Hyne Marine Reserve which is a salt water lake fed from the Atlantic Ocean. Knockomagh Mountain at 197m means 'crooked hill' and there are a nuture of walking routes and trails throughout the woods on the slopes of the mountain. Although only 197m high, the climb to the summit from sea level is steep at times.  Once you reach the summit you are rewarded with stunning views of Lough Hyne and an the West Cork coast. There are Sessile Oaks, the ruins of a cottage, a bluebell glade (in season), the fallen beech (growing again) and other sights to see as you progress.
