The Wicklow mountains National Park covers an area of 20,000 hectares and covers much of upland Wicklow. The National Park provides protection for the landscape and wildlife and covers areas such as Lugnaquilla and Liffey Head Bog complexes and Glendalough Wood Nature Reserve.

The Park is situated off the Green Road close to the Upper Lake, and approximately 100m from the Upper Lake Car Park – 2km from the Glendalough Visitor Centre. The Glendalough NR is a series of oak woods extending from the upper lake to the lower slopes of Derrybawn Mountain covering an area of 157 acres.
