Dooega Blue Flag beach is a sheltered sandy beach located on a small coastal inlet called Camport Bay and is just 8 kilometres from Achill Sound. Plenty parking is available and there is a disabled access ramp, as well as life-saving equipment on the beach. The northern part consists of a low lying flat coastal grassland of machair which is backed by Keel.  The beach is not lifeguarded and there are no toilets.

Local history: Carrickkildavnet Castle lies on the east coast of Achill island approximately four miles south of Achill Sough village.  This 15 century castle built by the O’Malleys in 1470 was used as a stronghold by Grace O’Malley in the sixteenth century.  The top is battlemented in the manner characteristic of the period and has overhanging turrets with provision for dropping missiles on to attacking forces.  The castle is the only monument on the island under state care.  There are the remains of an old boat-slip outside the castle, as well as traces of the original bawn.  The castle, which is the only monument on the island under state care.
