A section of disused railway

The Tralee and Dingle Light Railway was opened on 17th Sept 1888 at a cost of £2700 per mile and took 3 year to build. The line needed a three foot gauge due to the severe gradients and curvature and the line itself ran right next to the road with no fencing for large sections as the speed rarely exceeded 12 miles per hour. The line closed completely in 1953

There was also a 6 mile branch line from Lower Camp to Castlegregory.
