This strenuous loop walk on the MacGillycuddy Reeks is a 5 to 6 hour (13km) walking route with a nice gentle approach from Cummeenagearagh and Coolroe to start the day. You firstly approach and climb Skregmore East also known as Stumpa Barr na hAbhann (851m) and Beenkeeragh (1,010m) Mountains. From here you have some of the best views of Carrauntoohil (1,040m), Irelands Highest Mountain. After reaching the summit of Carrauntoohil you return down the stunning Heavenly Gates and back to your starting point via the Lisleibane parking area.

Use our Map of Ireland and Sat Nav tool to get directions to the start point and our detailed route map and GPS on our ActiveME App to find and follow the walking route live on screen and keep on track.  At all times, our maps and App should be used in conjunction proper map and compass navigation techniques.  Feel free to add you own comments or suggestions below.
