The Arthur Young Nature Trail, Muckross and Torc Waterfall is a great 5 to 6 hour (13km) walking loop capturing the heart and essence of the true Killarney experience and is one of the best Irish walking trails. This guided walk is part of the 2014 Killarney Walking Festival from 20 to 22 June. The walk begins along the majestic shores of Killarney’s premier lake, Lough Leane, and follows in the footsteps of the renowned English Agriculturalist and Writer, Arthur Young. Who visited the Muckross Estate in the autumn of 1776 and stayed with the Herbert’s of the Estate.

The walk then takes in The Old Boathouse Trail along the lakeshore to the rocky promontory at Dundag Point and continue on to the spectacular Torc Waterfall. From there you can explore the Muckross Estate Gardens and find out about its history, constructions and development from the mid 1880’s to the present day. And finally don't forget to visit Muckross Abbey, founded in 1448 by Donal McCarthy Mor, before returning to the Muckross car park along The Monks Walk.
