Croagh Patrick is a 764 metres (2507ft) mountain and an important site of pilgrimage in County Mayo in Ireland. Situated 8 kms from Westport, above the villages of Murrisk (where the Visitor Centre is situated). Croagh Patrick has been a site of pagan pilgrimage, especially for the summer solstice, since 3,000 B.C and attracts approx 1 million pilgrims each year. On 'Reek Sunday', the last Sunday in July, over 25,000 pilgrims visit the Reek as Croagh Patrick is known. There are magnificient views of Clew Bay and the countryside on the ascent.
