Caherlehillan has one of Ireland's oldest Christian Church from around 450 AD and is an exceptionally important site. Pottery found here revealed activity at the site in the mid 5th and early 6th centuries. The Church and Srugreine (ancient) Graveyard is located next to a farm at the foot of Caherlehillan. It can be reached by car, meandering up and round the hill, heading East from Kells Post Office.
The main features at the site include:
- One of the oldest Christian Church in Ireland from around 450 AD. This early church and shrine was located within a wooden enclosure.
- 2 Cross Slabs with carvings
- On one of the slabs is a carving of a Peacock, which may connect it with North Africa and Egypt
- Lintel type graves are also present here with one located under a shrine, probably the burial place of the founding 'Saint'.
