The White Strand Blue Flag Beach, Killard, Doonbeg is a popular and very safe sandy beach for swimming. The beach faces towards the Northeast and is therefore sheltered from the prevailing winds. The sandy beach, which slopes gently to low water, is flanked on either side by low rocky cliffs and these provide additional shelter to the strand. The view from White Strand Beach looks across to Doughmore Strand which is a very popular surfing, swimming and family beach. The beach is in a designated. Natural Heritage Area of ecological importance and also a Special area of Conservation (SAC). The beach is lifeguard patrolled (lifeguard patrol times and days are displayed on the information noticeboard at the beach).
