St Canice's Cathedral and Round Tower is in Kilkenny City in Ireland's midlands. This ecclesiastical site was founded in the 6th century and named after St Canice. Cill Channigh (Kilkenny) is the Gaelic for the Church of Canice, the church that originally stood on the site in the 6th century.

The present Cathedral dates from between 1202 and 1285 and it has been preserved in its original style and form. Worship has taken place here for over 800 years. It has wonderful stained glass and a large collection of ancient monuments. At 100ft high, do not miss viewing Kilkenny city and the surrounding area from the top of the 9th century round tower, weather permitting. It is a Discovery Point in 'Ireland's Ancient East'.
