Rathmullan Wood Nature Reserve located in County Donegal in the north west of Ireland is a 33ha Reserve and a great example of an old oak woodland.  The other main tree species are holly, hazel and downy birch. However, on first entering the woodland you are struck by the extent and individual size of the beech trees.  It is a great spot for wildlife and bird watching with diverse Birdlife in the wood.  From the colourful Jays to the agile Treecreepers, you also have Raven, Buzzard and Sparrowhawk all breeding within or close to the woodland, while Wood Pigeon and Blue and Long-tailed Tits are regularly encountered on a walk.

Use our Map of Ireland and Sat Nav tool to get directions to the entrance to the nature reserve and our detailed maps and GPS on our ActiveME App to find and follow the walking routes live on screen and keep on track.
