Portrane Beach is a 2 kilometre long Blue Flag sandy beach flanked by sand dunes. There is pedestrian access only to this beach, no vehicular traffic is allowed. Parking is provided. At the north end of the beach Rogerstown Estuary flows out and at the south end it is protected by a headland consisting of TowerBay. There is a National Heritage Area to the north of this beach, a site of local importance; it has a large colony of migrating birds during the winter months. This beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season (lifeguard times are displayed on the information noticeboard at the beach). Portrane is located in north CountyDublin and can be accessed by driving north on the M50 and taking the Donabate/Portrane exit. Follow the signs for Donabate, go through this town and follow signs for Portrane.
