Starting from Muckross House and Killarney National Park, the route follows the shores of Lough Leane to The Old Boathouse where you will board a boat and commence the 13 mile (2 hour) journey through the famous Lakes of Killarney from Lough Leane to Muckross Lake entering the Long Range river at the Meeting of the Waters at the picture perfect Dinis Cottage. Now you will slowly navigate the Long Range river with stunning mountains and wildlife on either side until you reach the Upper Lake where you will disembark at its western end. Here a short walk will bring you to the old hunting lodge, Lord Brandon’s Cottage and Café, where you will enjoy lunch on the banks of the Gearhameen River in The Black valley.

The return journey is a guided walk along one of the finest sections of the Kerry Way long distance walking trail that starts in Lord Brandon's and includes the scenic lakeshore route to Derrycunnihy Church, ancient woodlands and onto the Old Kenmare Road where you will walk in stunningly remote and secluded valleys before descending to the must see Torc Waterfall and ending the wonderful day back in the Muckross House Estate.

The entire trip is approx. 7 hours and is of moderate difficulty with plenty of time to rest, take photos and soak in the scenery.
