Lough Barra Bog Nature Reserve is located in the Gweebarra River Valley and is primarily a lowland blanket bog with a variety of plant, bird and animal species. It the habitat of three species of birds given special protection under the EC Bird Directive - Greenland White-fronted Goose, Merlin and Golden Plover. Established in 1987.
