Loher Stone Fort is located near the village of Waterville county Kerry in teh south west of Ireland. Loher fort was built around 900 AD probably by local chieftain in early Christian Ireland as a defended farm with places to hide and protect a group with great view of the sourrounding lands and seas.  The walls of this fort rise to a height of over 3 metres and are 3 metres thick and have internal stairs all built with dry-stone techniques. You can visit the fort off the famous Ring of Kerry scenic drive as it is only a few hundred metres from the main road.
