Kildysart Pier in south county Clare, Ireland is a good spot for bottom fishing for flounder.  Kildysart is a quiet, picturesque village situated on the banks of the Shannon Estuary, halfway between the towns of Ennis and Kilrush in the County of Clare. Kildysart is a good spot and base, for fishing both in the Estuary and in the local lakes. The lake of Gortglass, Clonshnacta and Effirnan are only about a five minute drive from the village and are trout fishing lakes only. Membership of the local angling club is required to fish in them. This is easy to obtain and inexpensive.

A boat can also be chartered in Kildysart for fishing in the Shannon Estuary or for trips to the many islands that lie off the village. Conger, Skate, Greater and Lesser Dogfish, Pollock, Thorn Back Ray, Flounder, Tope can be caught in this area. Another good fishing pier is Cahercon Pier only one mile from Kildysart. Bait such as Peeler Crab and Lugworm are available in good quantity in the area.
