This rocky ledges at Green Island are famous for its mackerel, pollack, garfish, wrasse, conger, dogfish and occasional tope. Turn down small cul de sac road opposite the Rineen monument with parking near the end of the road. To get toGreen Island, you will have to cross a couple of fields to the coast and then walk about 500m. The mark is just past a large gully and is best fished from 2/3 to full tide. Best here is spinning, float fishing and bottom fishing over the rough ground. 

The most famous of all fish caught and landed here are the Porbeagle shark and the most famous fisherman to land shark from the shore is Corkman, Jack Shine who died in 1997. In early 1962 he landed a porbeagle of 77 lbs and by August the same year he took two in one day - 75 lbs and 91 lbs. In 1963, four of the porbeagle he landed were over 100 lbs including beauties of 130 and 138 lbs. Each year after that, he took 100 lbs plus porbeagle from the shore.
