This is an amazing walking route taking in the some of the best walks and most stunning scenery in Ireland. The Irish section of the E8 walking route can be done in either direction and incorporates a number of Irelands own long distance National Waymarked Trails including the

Dursey Island, West Cork, Ireland, Wild Atlantic Way

As with many National Waymarked Trails, sections of the routes involve road walking along most quiet country back roads. Please note that there is no marked trail connecting the Blackwater Way with the Kerry Way. Its is an unmarked route from Shrone to the start of the Kerry Way in Killarney.

The entire E8 European long distance is 4,700km (2,920 miles) across Europe from Cork in Ireland to Istanbul in Turkey. Along its entire length, the route is aimed at walkers, cyclists and horse riders. After Ireland it crosses the Irish Sea into the United Kingdom, where it follows part of the Trans Pennine Trail. After crossing the North Sea, it passes through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and finally reaching Turkey. Some of the eastern sections of the route are yet to be finalised.
