Dromore Woods are located in the South Eastern part of the Burren region in Co. Clare. The reserve is approximately 400 hectares and comprises semi-natural woodland and four major wetland types. It has many different habitats which include a lake river callows turloughs limestone pavement reed beds fen peat and rich woodlands. The reserve also has historical and archaeological assets. The 17th century O’ Briens Castle is standing right on the lakes edge. There are also two ring forts and a lime kiln. There are two self guiding woodland trails which approximately take an hour to complete and a section of the Mid Clare Way passes through the reserve aswell. Established 28 November, 1985.
