An old railway line part of the Ulster Railway connected the port of Newry to Enniskillen (Northern Ireland) by way of Armagh, Monaghan and Clones (Republic of Ireland) in 1863 but closed between 1951 and 1957 along with many of the other rural railways in Ireland. This section of dismantled railway may have the potential to be developed as a walking/cycle route in the future.
