This beach is part of a continuous stretch of wide sandy beach from Raven Point to Ballyconigar near Blackwater. It is one of the longest beaches in Ireland if not Europe. The opening sequence of the film"Saving Private Ryan" was filmed here. It is located approximately 10km north east of wexford town in a rural area. The village of Curracloe is located about 1km west of the beach. There are very few buildings located near the beach as a large part of the area surrounding the beach is an Area of Scientific Interest made up of a dune system stretching along the coastline backing the beach itself. This beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season (lifeguard patrol times are displayed on the information noticeboard at the beach).
